Questions judges may ask:
Where did you get your idea?
Why did you choose this project/ topic?
Why did you choose this topic and how did you settle on your approach to the problem?
Who help you?
What would differently if you repeated your experiment?
What would you do next?
Are your findings significant? (refers to statistical significance)
Are your findings meaningful or important?
Can you walk me through how and why you decided on this experimental/engineering design?
What was the most surprising experimental/engineering challenge you faced during this science project? How did you overcome it?
What were your goals with this science project and how would you evaluate where you are in respect to those goals?
If your tests had shown XYZ instead, what would you have done? Why?
Please explain your hypothesis?
What was your control? Independent Variable? Dependent Variable?
Might ask more information about controls and constants
How did you calculate your result
How did you measure that
Who might want to know this information?
Did you try something that didn't work?
Number of trials
How big was your data set/ sample set
Were there any books that helped you with your research/procedure/analysis?
How many times did you run the experiment with a different set of parameters?
How much time (or many days) did it take to run the experiments (grow the plants or collect each data point)?
If you built something: How did you build the apparatus? How does it work?
How long did it take you to build the apparatus?
Can you explain to me how your project relates to (some scientific principle)?
Why did you chose that control/independent variable/dependent variable
What was the hardest/ most challenging part?
